Prêt-à-Loger is a sustainable renovation concept aimed at 1.4 million typical Dutch terraced houses (potentially 30.6 million throughout North-Western Europe). The so-called second skin concept combines energy saving measures with adding extra living space by adding a smart greenhouse structure.
With this concept the team from Delft University of Technology won several prices in the international “Solar Decathlon Europe 2014” competition, amongst which the first in Sustainability.
The prototype at The Green Village is currently being used for further research on the concept and as a testbed for new technologies.
