Nowi’s WiFi powered climate sensors are able to use ambient 2.4GHz WiFi signals as a power source. This means the WiFi router in your home can be used without any changes. The first sensor prototype measures temperature and has been designed from scratch. Testing is still on-going, however a 5+ year lifetime is expected at minimum in realistic use-cases. Both an optimized design of the temperature sensor prototype, a motion sensor and a new air quality sensor are currently in development.
At the Green Village, Nowi will place sensors in the Prêt-à-Loger house. Subject of research are range, durabilty and reliability of the devices.
