Climate change, flooding, drought, heat stress, extreme weather ….these are threats to the living environment and are the challenges we have to face in the immediate future. Drainvast has developed products adressing the challenges of heat stress and flooding by disconnecing pavements from the sewers. These products hold the rainwater where it falls allowing it to infiltrate slowly into the soil. As a result sewers do not have to drain away the rainwater and they don’t become overloaded.
Drainstop® has been developed to help prevent standing water in the bedding layer during long-term or extreme rainfall. When the maximum waterlevel in the foundation layer is reached, the Drainstop functions as an overflow allowing the water to pass to, for example, open water, a wadi or a sewer.
Drainstop® also facilitates infiltration in areas with of low permeability. Drainvoeg is a permeable joint filler used in brick or block paving that makes the pavement porous. The combination of Drainstop® and the Drainvoeg, the capacity of the subbase and the point at which the construction overflows is being tested at The Green Village.
