DrainMix® is a sustainable and circular building material made from waste. The material consists of bottom ash that remains after incineration of residual waste. After processing, these bottom ash are suitable as building material for foundation and drainage. For example in sports fields, squares, parking spaces and walking paths. DrainMix® has been is used in the WaterStraat at The Green Village.
This circular building material is the result of a collaboration between:

Drainmix® can be a solution for municipalities, among others, in achieving sustainability objectives.
It is a very strong and light secondary building material. Porous enough to collect a lot of water. A replacement for the current foundation (and sport-technical) layer.
The climate adaptive effect of this building material is tested in the WaterStraat: rainwater can be stored in a DrainMix® foundation, then drained off afterwards or reused later.

Een duurzame en circulaire bouwstof van restafval
Het materiaal bestaat uit de bodemassen die na verbranding van restafval overblijven. Na een bewerking zijn deze bodemassen geschikt als bouwstof voor fundering en drainage. Bijvoorbeeld van sportvelden, pleinen, parkeerplaatsen en wandelpaden. Op The Green Village is DrainMix® toegepast in de WaterStraat.
Deze circulaire bouwstof is het resultaat van een samenwerking tussen:

Drainmix® kan voor onder andere gemeentes een oplossing zijn bij het bereiken van duurzaamheidsdoelstellingen.
Het is een zeer sterke en lichte secundaire bouwstof. Poreus genoeg om veel water op te vangen. Een vervanger van de huidige funderings- (én sporttechnische) laag.
In de WaterStraat wordt het klimaatadaptieve effect van dit bouwmateriaal getest: er kan regenwater worden opgeslagen in een DrainMix®-fundering, en daarna vertraagd worden afgevoerd of later hergebruikt.
