Case: PowerParking
Locally generated sustainable energy also requires storage and smart management. PowerParking offers a smart energy storage system specifically designed for large parking lots. This system charges the batteries of parked cars with solar energy, making stored energy available for use elsewhere in the electricity grid, such as street lighting during the night.
Thanks to this innovation, parking lots and parked cars have a useful and sustainable function. Additionally, the PowerParking system helps stabilise the load on the electricity network, known as “peak shaving,” thereby reducing the need for investments in network replacement and expansion.
The PowerParking smart grid acts as a buffer to accommodate the increasing peaks in energy demand caused by the charging of electric cars and the return of energy by solar panels and wind turbines. This makes the electricity network more efficient and sustainable.
